Superintendent
Dr. Tammy Champa is thrilled to join Owatonna Public Schools as superintendent. Prior to coming to the district, she served as the superintendent of Hastings Public Schools and the Pine Island School District for the past 13 years. She began her educational career as an elementary teacher and served as a community education director, elementary principal, and middle school principal.
Superintendent Champa holds a bachelor’s degree, an educational leadership master’s degree, a specialist degree from Winona State University, and a doctorate from Bethel University. In addition, Dr. Champa has certifications in human capital leadership and the national superintendent program.
In addition to her passion for teaching, learning, and leading, Champa enjoys spending time with her family and friends. She also loves the outdoors and enjoys running half marathons, mountain biking, and road biking.
As the superintendent of Owatonna, Champa is honored to serve the community and looks forward to continuing to build on the excellence of the district. Her priorities are to continue to enhance the quality of education, foster a supportive environment, and work collaboratively with students, parents, and staff to ensure the success and well-being of every student.
