Election Information

School board members are elected during the November General Election on even years.  Members are elected for a four-year term with either three or four members elected.  All board members are elected at-large.

2022 Filing Dates
The period for filing affidavits of candidacy for the office of school board member shall begin on August 2, 2022 and close at 5:00 p.m. on August 16, 2022.

Election Day: November 8, 2022
On November 8, 2022, four members will be elected to the School Board for terms of four years each.

Affidavits of Candidacy
Affidavits of Candidacy are available from the school district clerk at the Owatonna Public Schools District Office, 515 West Bridge Street, Owatonna. Affidavits of candidacy must be filed in the office of the school district clerk and the $2 filing fee paid prior to 5:00 p.m. on August 16, 2022.

Eligibility
School board member candidates must:

  • be an eligible voter
  • be 21 years of age or more on assuming office
  • have been a resident of the school district for thirty days before the general election
  • have no other affidavit on file for any other office at the same primary or next ensuing general election

August 1-4: 7:30 am to 4:00 pm
Friday, August 5: Closed (or by appointment)
August 8-15: Monday-Friday, 7:30 am to 4:00 pm
August 16: 7:30 am to 5:00 pm

Financial Reports

Owatonna Public Schools is required to publish financial reports by any organized campaign committee or candidate. These reports will be available on the school district website for four years. M.S. 211A.02.
