Election Information
Owatonna Public Schools is governed by a seven-member School Board elected at-large by district residents. Board members serve four-year terms and are elected during the November General Election on even years.
The next school board general election is November 3, 2026. New terms begin January 4, 2027. There are four seats open for election in 2026.

How to File to be a School Board Candidate
- Filing period: July 14-July 28, 2026
- Submit an Affidavit of Candidacy to Sarah Hoffman in the superintendent's office at the Owatonna Public Schools District Office, 333 East School Street, Owatonna
- Remember to bring a photo ID when filing as well as the $2 filing fee
- Deadline to file: 5:00 PM on Tuesday, July 28
After Filing
- Review the campaign manual and campaigning information on the Minnesota Secretary of State's website
- Complete all campaign finance forms as required

Financial Reports
Owatonna Public Schools is required to publish financial reports by any organized campaign committee or candidate. These reports will be available on the school district website for four years. M.S. 211A.02.
