Recognizing the Excellence Across Owatonna Public Schools

At Owatonna Public Schools, we are proud to recognize and celebrate the dedication, expertise, and heart of our outstanding staff. From those who work year-round to prepare our buildings and operations, to our experienced teachers who have dedicated decades to shaping young minds, to the brand-new cooks and cashiers preparing to serve nutritious meals this fall — our schools are filled with committed professionals who make a difference every single day.

Across every position and department — whether in classrooms, cafeterias, offices, buses, libraries, or behind the scenes — our staff bring our mission to life: Inspiring Excellence. Every Learner, Every Day.

Community Support

We’re proud to share that a recent independent community survey conducted by The Morris Leatherman Company confirms value in Owatonna Public Schools.

• 87% of residents rated the quality of education as excellent or good.
   
• 88% said our schools represent a good value for their tax dollars.
   
• And most notably, 92% of respondents gave our teachers a positive job performance rating — a true testament to the talent, care, and professionalism our educators bring to their work.

Investing in Our Staff, Growing Our Future

Our strength lies in the experience and growth of our people. A significant portion of our licensed staff — 70% — hold advanced degrees. This wealth of knowledge and expertise directly benefits our students every day.

We are also proud to be in the second year of our Teacher Apprenticeship Program, a vital part of our "Grow Your Own" efforts. This program supports current staff, such as paraprofessionals and support professionals, who have a two-year degree or relevant experience, by helping them earn a full teaching license in just two years. It's one more way we are investing in the future of our schools and our community.
