Special Education Advisory Council (SEAC)

The Owatonna Public Schools Special Education Advisory Council (SEAC) is required by Minnesota state law.  It provides parents and guardians the opportunity for increased participation in the special education process.  Members include parents/guardians of students with disabilities (including non-public schools in the district), teachers, school staff, and administrators.  The purpose of the SEAC is to provide guidance to the district regarding special education policies and procedures.  While the Special Education Advisory Council advises and advocates, it does not decide district policy.  The Special Education Advisory Council allows for the unique perspectives of parents/guardians of students who receive special services to be heard in a community forum.

Please consider attending the Special Education Advisory Council meetings.  They are open to any person interested in learning more about special services programming at Owatonna Public Schools.  Please contact Theresa Caswell, Special Services Secretary, with any questions (507) 444-8614.
